10 THINGS with Brande Roderick

You’ve been in the entertainment business for quite some time. What have been some of you most memorable roles thus far?

That’s a tough question, because so many of my roles have been memorable for so many reasons, but I’ll try and narrow it down to a few. My guest appearance on “90210” would have to be memorable because of the mere fact that it was my very first TV role ever! I was very excited to land that role. Secondly, I would have to say starring in “Baywatch Hawaii,” not only because it was my first series regular role, but because it was my favorite job. I got to live in Hawaii, go on the beach every day, swim in the beautiful ocean and be around gorgeous men all day. It was a young girl’s dream job. As far as movies go, working with the very funny Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson was definitely memorable. Comedy being my first love, improving with those two, was a dream come true. I also have to give a mention to working with the, oh, so talented and beautiful Scarlett Johansson. I feel very blessed to have had so many amazing roles and have worked with so many talented people.

Speaking of memorable, who could forget your appearance on NBC’s The Apprentice. Tell us about your experience with that show?

My experience on the show was a great one! I never use the word fun to describe my experience, as we worked close to 18 hour days, six days a week, but I do describe it as an amazing experience because, I love a challenge, I love business and I love being able to meet and work with all the interesting characters.

Do you feel like you learned a lot about how to run your own business?

One of the main things I learned from being on “The Apprentice” is that you truly can get things done in a shorter amount of time than you really think or give yourself credit for. Another thing, is that I take on challenges, as if the person on the other end can’t say no! There is always a way around obstacles.

Most people are not aware of what goes on behind the scenes. But, if you had to do the show all over again, what things would you change?

First and foremost, if they had an “all-stars” season, I would sign up for it. With that being said, I can’t think of much I would do differently because, I prepped for that show more than anyone I know. I’m a freak that way. I watched over 70 hours of past “Apprentice” footage to size up my opponents and the types of tasks that I would be faced with, along with taking Mac classes, etc… However, if I had to say one thing I would do different, it would be, not taking on a challenge that I feel someone else in the group is more qualified for, just because it was my turn to.

Beyond the entertainment world, you’ve recently joined forces with Alkaline 88. Tell us about the company and your role with them.

Alkaline88 is the first and only bulk alkaline water on the market. Because it’s bulk, it’s less expensive than other alkaline waters and it’s better for the environment because you’re using less plastic. I signed onto the advisory board for Alkaline88 because, I strongly believe in a healthy, balanced life. And for me, that starts with alkaline water.

What personal benefits can you share with us about switching over to this new lifestyle?

Since drinking it, I have better and more hydrated skin, more energy, and my body just feels better, not to mention the fact that, since I’ve been drinking the water, I’ve gotten sick less often. Another benefit, is that I’m drinking so much, that I’m constantly feeling full.

This seems to be a good idea, but can the average person afford such a change in their routine?

You can’t afford not to. If your body is acidic, it’s a breeding ground for illness. I don’t know about you, but I can’t afford to get sick, and a lot of people out there can’t either. The cost is one of the things I love about Alkaline88 versus the other alkaline products out there—it’s less expensive because it’s bulk.

You recently wrote a book entitled, Bounce Don’t Break. What is the book about and what kind of help do you offer?

It’s Brande’s guide to life, love and success. It’s part advice and part memoir. I give advice based on my personal experiences and the research that I’ve done through books and courses. The book covers topics from climbing the ladder in business, to dating advice for men and women, along with health and beauty tips. Writing Bounce Don’t Break is one of my greatest accomplishments. I loved every minute of writing it. You can find it at Barnes & Noble and Amazon, or branderoderick.com for an autographed copy.

We hear that you’re quite the fashionista with your designer shoe line. How did that come about and what kind of girl can be seen wearing one of your designs?

Pantofola was founded by my husband and three other entrepreneurs here in San Diego. It’s an over 100-year-old Italian shoe company that we brought over to America, to sell them here. They are an amazing designer shoe line that you can wear casual or dressed up.  You may have seen Adam Levine wearing our shoe on “The Voice,” as he designed one of our men’s shoe line (the all black one). You can find them at www.pdoitalia.com.

Congrats on your new venture with Alkaline 88, your shoe collection and your book. What other projects can we look forward to in the near future?

I actually have four projects in the works, three of which I’m behind the scenes as a producer, and one that I’m in front of the camera. I love being busy.
