10 Things with Madisyn Shipman
When did you develop a love for acting?
I have always had a love for performing arts since I was really young. I had a huge imagination and would perform different “shows” on the fireplace at home for my parents and grandparents.
What was your first big acting job and how did you react when you booked it?
My first big acting job was probably Sesame Street. I was about 6 years old and just remember being more excited about meeting Zoe and Elmo more than anything.
You’re currently on Nickelodeon’s Game Shakers. How excited were you to take on this project?
When I found out I landed the role of Kenzie, I was one emotional mess!! This project was such a long, tedious process. We decided to have my agent, Leslie, tell us in person once she found out if I booked it or not. We actually have a video of it! Keep an eye out for it!!
On the show, you play the role of Kenzie Bell. What do you like the most about playing her on screen?
I love being able to inspire so many young girls. This is the first kids network show where girl power is portrayed. Kenzie is a killer coder and there are lots of girls out there who need to express their inner-Kenzie!!
You guys seem to have so much fun on set. What’s the best part about working with the rest of the cast?
We work with such an amazing cast and crew. We are like one big family and are always there to support each other, but we always find time for pranks!! Prank wars and nerf gun wars are the best!!!
What can fans of the show expect to see from Kenzie and the gang on this season?
We begin filming Season 3 tomorrow! Season 2 is starting to roll out now. You will start to see a ton of romance/drama throughout the season. You will see that Kenzie is willing to do whatever it takes to be supportive of her friends.
If you had the chance to do a project with any actor, which ones would make your wish list?
Sandra Bullock is definitely at the top! She is so inspirational and very talented. I aspire to be like her.
If you weren’t working on building a career as an actor, what kind of job do you you would have?
I still plan to go to college. My parents have always enforced that school is the priority and I definitely agree. I plan to study neuro-science. I love helping others and making a difference in someone’s life.
Girls love to dress up. Which fashion styles do you like for yourself?
I’m very diverse with my style. Depending on my mood for the day, that influences my style for that day. I may dress boho one day and edgy the next. It’s always changing.
What other projects do you have in the works besides working on Game Shakers?
Right now I’m just working on Game Shakers. We had a short hiatus and I spent a lot of time in North Carolina, visiting the local children’s hospital. That is where my heart is.
