MUSIC – Caroline Vreeland

Music artist, singer and songwriter are just a few things that describe Caroline Vreeland. She has a voice that is creating waves in the music world and a haunting beauty that is creating similar turbulence in the fashion world. This can be a daunting position for any emerging artist to be in, not to mention the great granddaughter of legendary fashion editor and Icon Diana Vreeland. Oh, you didn’t know? Vreeland has taken her family’s creative legacy and channeled it through music. Grandmother and legendary fashion editor for Harper’s Bazaar, Diana Vreeland once famously said, “There’s only one very good life and that’s the life you know, you want and you make it yourself.” That’s exactly what Caroline Vreeland is doing. She showed up to her first ever, vocal lesson at the age of 8 and sang, “Sleep to Dream” by Fiona Apple. Looking back, she laughs thinking about the little girl from Marin County singing such an aggressive song. But that, is Caroline. Caroline Vreeland‘s debut single, “The Mauling” has just been released along with the music video.

Caroline Vreeland  has worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry. We’re talking about the likes of high profile producers such as Scott Storch and Evan Bogart, just to name a few. She recently collaborated on tracks with Florence and the Machine guitarist Rob Ackroyd, singer songwriter LP, and John Ingoldsby. In 2013, Caroline Vreeland sang background vocals on the 30 Seconds to Mars album LOVE LUST FAITH + DREAMS, and she also performed with the band on Jimmy Kimmel Live. With a childhood spent listening to Fiona Apple, Etta James, Al Green, Jeff Buckley, Diana Krall, and Elvis Costello, Caroline Vreeland describes her own unique sound as “almost nervous and filled with a doomed magic.”

Caroline Vreeland’s full length EP “In Ruins” is set to be released in 2015!
